NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The season may be over, but the awards keep coming in for Vanderbilt senior guard Jence Rhoads, who recently was tabbed as an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press.
Rhoads is the ninth player in school history to earn All-America honors by the Associated Press and the first since Dee Davis and Carla Thomas received honorable mention honors in 2007. Chantelle Anderson is the only player to earn multiple All-America honors (three) from the AP.
The Slippery Rock, Pa., native was named to the WBCA Region 3 All-America team on March 16, but her award from the AP is Rhoads’ first national All-America honor.
Rhoads is the only player in school history with 1,100 points, 500 assists and 400 rebounds. She finished her career third all-time with 547 assists, fourth all-time with 4,082 minutes played and eighth all-time with 11 40-minute games.
Rhoads concluded her senior season averaging 11.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and a team-best 4.8 assists. She also led the team in steals (30) and average minutes played: 35.1.
