NASHVILLE – Alyssa Dunlap has been honored as the American Lacrosse Conference Freshman of the Week for her performance in Vanderbilt’s 15-10 upset victory over Stanford.
Dunlap had five ground balls and a caused turnover as Vanderbilt knocked the Cardinal from the ranks of the unbeaten. Dunlap and the rest of the Commodore defense held the Stanford scoreless for a stretch of nearly 27 minutes as the VU attack notched eight consecutive goals. The Villanova, Pa., native has started every game of her young VU career.
Elsewhere in the league, Brooke Lipinski from Johns Hopkins was named Defensive Player of the Week and Kitty Cullen from Florida was tabbed as the ALC Offensive Player of the Week.
The Commodores travel to face Louisville tomorrow (Wednesday, March 30) at 2 p.m. CT. Vanderbilt returns to league action this weekend with a trip to John Hopkins in Baltimore on Sunday, April 3.
