Spend a day with your favorite Commodore basketball players at Vanderbilt’s Buzzkill: “Dores for Nets 2011” 3-on-3 basketball tournament for third through eighth graders on April 17 at Memorial Gym. The money raised will help purchase mosquito nets for the children of Africa to help stop spread malaria on the continent.
Malaria kills a child every thirty seconds and there are 350 to 500 million cases of malaria illnesses per year. Malaria is 100% preventable and treatable.
Here’s how to get involved.
Visit the website, Vanderbilt Buzzkill and sign up to play in the 3-on-3 tournament or just to donate to the cause.
Date: April 17
Time: 3-5 p.m.
Format: Teams of 3 or 4
Ages: 3rd – 8th grade
Cost: $50 per team
Where: Memorial Gym
Also, teams are also encouraged to raise money for themselves. The grand prize – the team that raises the most money gets the first draft pick to determine what Vanderbilt player will coach their team.
