Dores play at Penn State Sunday

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The 12th-ranked Vanderbilt lacrosse team returns to American Lacrosse Conference play this weekend, traveling to face Penn State on Sunday, March 20 at Bigler Field.

The Commodores (5-3, 0-1 ALC) are coming off an 11-6 mid-week victory over New Hampshire that included six points (three goals, three assists) from junior All-American Ally Carey.

Junior Courtney Kirk has paced the Commodore attack with a total of 27 points on 13 goals and 14 assists. Senior Katherine Denkler has scored a team-high 18 goals, while classmate Emily Franke ranks second in both goals (15) and points (26).

The Nittany Lions (3-4) have notched consecutive home victories over Delaware and Hofstra. The game marks Penn State’s first ALC contest of the year.

Senior Laura Lesnick has notched a team-high 14 goals in PSU’s first seven games. Junior goalkeeper Dana Cahill is allowing only eight goals per game in net for the Nittany Lions.

Following tomorrow’s matchup, Vanderbilt will return home next weekend to play host to Stanford. That game is scheduled to begin at Noon CT on Sunday, March 27, at the VU Lacrosse Complex on campus.
