Quick Slant is an array of brief insights and occasionally opinionated overviews of collegiate athletics in general and the Vanderbilt Commodores in particular.
Outfield bleacher tickets for mid-week, non-conference baseball games will be sold for just $1 the rest of the season. As temperatures rise and daylight savings arrives, mid-week games move from 4 p.m. to 6 o’clock starts.
- More good news: The National Commodore Club recently announced the addition of two new, lower-cost football parking surface lots for season ticket holders. There will be a $150 per season lot at the corner of Vanderbilt Place and Blakemore and a $250 surface lot on Natchez Trace near Blakemore. These improvements come after considerable study and interaction with fans and NCC members. A terrific perk with both of these lots is that they come with automatic membership into the NCC, where the support provides scholarship assistance for Vanderbilt’s 325 student-athletes. This link will take you to a map of the football parking while fans can use this link to purchase parking and join the NCC. For questions, call the Commodore Club office at 615-322-4114.
- Our congratulations to Brandt and Mandy Snedeker on the birth of their daughter, Lily, on March 3.
- The weekend of March 18 will be one of the busiest of the year for Commodore teams with NCAA basketball, home baseball and tennis but for those of you looking for something a little different, you might consider attending our bowling team’s one and only home tournament of the year. Twenty-two teams will compete at the Smyrna Bowling Center on Friday, March 18 (noon to 6 pm), Saturday (noon to six) and Sunday (8-noon). Admission is free.
