The 10th ranked Vanderbilt women’s tennis team opens conference play this weekend at the Currey Tennis Center. The ‘Dores host Mississippi State and Ole Miss on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
The Commodores are 6-2 on the season, with a 4-0 mark at home. Chelsea Preeg and Keilly Ulery have each dropped just one singles match this season, with Preeg on a six match-winning streak. In doubles play, the duo of Ulery and Lauren Mira are 7-1 in No. 3 matches, while Preeg and Jackie Wu are 6-1 on court two. Vanderbilt has lost the doubles point just one time this season.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs are 2-4 on the season, with wins over Southern Miss and Troy State. Freshman Alexandra Perper, who joined the team in January, holds a 3-3 record in No. 1 matches. Fellow freshmen Roseline Dion and Vivian Pietraroia have also been in the starting line up for the Bulldogs this season, competing in positions four, five and six. Last season, Vanderbilt defeated Mississippi State twice, with a 7-0 victory during the regular season and a 4-0 win in the SEC tournament.
The Ole Miss Rebels enter SEC play with a 5-2 overall record and have won their past three matches. So far this season, the two freshmen in the lineup have combined for a 13-1 record in singles play. Caroline Rohde-Moe is 6-1 while Vivian Vlaar is 7-0.
