Commodore Football Head Coach James Franklin will be the special guest at a reception on Thursday, March 10, for hoop fans planning to attend the Southeastern Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament and Vanderbilt alumni residing in the Atlanta metro area.
The reception, co-hosted by the university’s Atlanta alumni chapter and National Commodore Club (NCC), will take place at the Georgia World Congress Center, located at 285 Andrew Young International Boulevard in Atlanta.
The two-hour event, slated to start at 5:30 p.m., ET, includes hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. The cost is $20 per person.
The Atlanta event will mark Coach Franklin’s second recent appearance at an event co-hosted by Vanderbilt alumni chapters and the NCC. On Feb. 18, Franklin and Vanderbilt Vice Chancellor of Student Athletics David Williams II were the featured guests at a reception on Beale Street in Memphis.
“I expect to say hello to a great deal of Commodore fans,” Coach Franklin said. “I’m hoping for a big crowd because it’s an ideal time to gather together a lot of our fans. Atlanta is home to so many Vanderbilt alumni and plenty of Commodore basketball fans will be converging on Atlanta to support Coach (Kevin) Stallings’ squad at the basketball tournament. I hope everybody making plans to be in Atlanta includes the reception as part of their activities.”
The World Congress Center is located next to the Georgia Dome, site of the SEC men’s basketball tournament. The reception is scheduled the same day as SEC tourney first round games.
