MG in 3rd after day one in Mobile

The Vanderbilt men’s golf team is in a tie for third place after the first two rounds of the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate in Mobile, Ala. The Commodores had a total of 592 (293-299) in the two rounds played on Monday and are tied with Akron for third.

Freshman Jordan Janico, who was put into the starting lineup after Ryan Thornton was moved to an individual due to injury, led Vanderbilt on Monday. Janico shot a three-under 69 in the first round, and then shot a second-round 77 to finish in a tie for eighth heading into the final round Tuesday. Thornton had a great day on Monday as well, finishing the day tied with Janico with a 146 (73-73).

Middle Tennessee State leads the tournament after shooting a 581 (292-289) on Monday. The Blue Raiders’ Jason Millard and Kentucky’s Chase Parker lead the individual portion of the tournament with a score of 142.
