After splitting their two matches in California last weekend, the Vanderbilt men’s tennis team returns home to the Currey Tennis Center this weekend. No. 43 Vanderbilt will host No. 59 Memphis Friday afternoon at 2 p.m.
The Commodores enter the weekend with a 3-1 record after falling to Nebraska and defeating Santa Clara in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. Adam Baker clinched the victory over Santa Clara for the Commodores with a three-set win in the No. 2 match. Ryan Lipman, ranked No. 43 in the nation, holds a 3-1 record at the No. 1 position in dual matches this season. He and Baker are 3-1 at the No. 1 doubles spot.
Memphis opened the season with a 6-1 loss to conference foe Tulsa, but has won three consecutive matches since. The duo of freshmen Joe Salisbury and David O’Hare stand 3-1 on the season and are ranked No. 52 in the nation.
The Commodores and Tigers most recently met on the courts in 2009, when Vanderbilt picked up a 7-0 victory.
