The Vanderbilt women’s swim team is traveling to Huntington, W.Va., to compete against Marshall this weekend and junior Stephanie Falcone gives an update from the road.

“Today we’re heading to Marshall for our first of two final dual meets this season. Next week we will swim against Tulane in Nashville. It’s been an interesting week for us since many of the girls have been sick these past few days, but we are ready to race tomorrow at Marshall. At this point in the season, we are focusing a lot on technique and pace-work, as well as fine-tuning aspects of the race such as starts and turns in preparation for the SEC Championships. Working on these in our races tomorrow will help us in Gainesville in a few weeks.
“The spring semester started a few weeks ago and it has been strange not having swimming as our only focus the way it was while we were on our training trip. Getting back in the swing of schoolwork, study hall, meetings, clubs, etc., while balancing swimming is always a challenge. However, swimming actually helps a lot with time management and we have our academic advisors to help us stay on top of everything. We are all ready for the end of the season, not only because it’s what we’ve been working towards, but because it’s the most exciting part. We’ll continue to put in the hard work these next few weeks and it will definitely pay off at SEC’s.”
