READING, PA – Vanderbilt’s bowling team hits the road for the third time in three weeks as it prepares for the Kutztown Invitational Friday through Sunday at the Hiester Lanes. The tournament’s convenient location for many northeastern teams has helped attract a big field of 28, including 13 of the top 20 rated squads.
For the first time in NCAA women’s bowling history, a regular-season tournament will be broadcast live from start to finish on BOWL.com, the official website of the United States Bowling Congress. Coverage of the event will begin at 11 a.m. on Jan. 28 with six, four-game Baker format matches and continues at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday with six team matches.
Total pin fall will determine Sunday’s bracket competition, which features best-of-seven Baker matches, will begin at 8:30 a.m.
“This is a very good tournament and we are looking forward to it,” says Vanderbilt Coach John Williamson. “With just a few blips, we have been bowling at a pretty high level this month and to be competitive here we will need to focus and execute as we’ve been doing.”
The Commodores will travel with the same seven as made last week’s trip to Lincoln: Amanda Halter, Jessica Earnest, Kim Carper, Ellen Morrison, Brittni Hamilton, Samantha Hesley and Kayla Rhoades.
The Philadelphia area was hit by a foot of snow Wednesday but the weather is predicted to improve. Last week the team had trouble getting to Nebraska as it arrived in the Midwest just as a big storm was hitting Kansas City.
