FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt men’s team finished in sixth and the women’s team finished in a tie for seventh at the 2010 Mason Rudolph Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn. The University of Memphis captured the men’s title with a 10-under par, 842 (274-284-284), and LSU won the women’s championship with a record-setting, 21-under par, 843 (278-282-283).
Memphis captured the men’s title by two strokes over South Carolina, who finished with an eight-under par, 844. Jack Belote of Memphis won medalist honors with an eight-under par, 205 (66-69-70) on the South Course.
LSU won the women’s tournament by two strokes over Purdue, who also broke the 54-hole record with a 19-under par, 845. LSU beat the previous 54-hole record set by UCLA in 2008 by seven strokes, and Purdue beat the previous mark by five strokes. California’s Pia Halbig won medalist honors for the women, shooting a 13-under par, 203. The 203 also tied a 54-hole scoring mark set by Amanda Blumenherst of Duke in 2007. Halbig won the individual title by three storkes over Michelle Shin of Wake Forest.
Junior Adam Hofmann led all Vanderbilt men with a 209 (71-70-68), which tied him for fourth place. Senior Megan Grehan tied for 14th with a 212 (71-71-70), which led all Vanderbilt women.

– Hofmann’s fourth place finish is his best since he earned runner-up honors at the 2009 Reunion Intercollegiate. Hofmann missed the entire 2009-10 campaign with an injured wrist.
– Grace’s finish was his best in his two-year Commodore career…his previous best came Gordin-Myers, where he competed as an individual at the Gordin-Myers when he finished in a tie for 33rd. Grace’s first-round 68 was the best round of his career.

– Keith’s 69 tied a career single-round low with a final round 69. She also shot a 69 in the second round of the Tar Heel Invitational on October 10, 2009.
– Other records were also broken this week. LSU’s opening round 278 tied a first-round team total record (USC, 2009), and Wake Forest’s Michelle Shin tied a single-round record with a first-round 65 on Friday. – Southern Cal tied a third-round team total record with a 278. The Trojans’ Lisa McCloskey also tied a third-round individual record with a five-under par, 67.
– Marina Alex’s T-35 finish is her only her second finish outside of the top 20 in her last 14 tournaments.
– Lauren Stratton’s second-round 69 tied for a career-best, she also shot a 69 in the second round of the SEC Championship.
