Commodores move to fifth at Seminole

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Vanderbilt men’s golf team shot Saturday’s third lowest round to move up three spots to fifth place heading into the final round of the 2010 Seminole Intercollegiate at SouthWood Golf Course.

The course’s front nine holes were again friendly to Vanderbilt, as all five Commodores shot par or better. For the day, no Commodore shot higher than a three-over 74.

Vanderbilt jumped ahead of Baylor, Troy and Mississippi State after 36 holes, just eight strokes back of leader and host Florida State. At eight-over, the Seminoles hold a one-stroke lead on South Carolina. North Carolina and North Texas are tied for third at 12-over, four strokes shy of Vanderbilt. Arkansas, Baylor, Mississippi State, Mercer and Troy round out the Top 10 in the 14-team field.

Sophomore Trey DelGreco and freshman Will Snipes both carded two-over 73’s. Snipes stands in a tie for 43rd place after shaving five strokes off his opening round. In a tie for 16th, DelGreco is one of three Commodores in the Top 20.
