Quick Slant is an array of brief insights and occasionally opinionated overviews of collegiate athletics in general and the Vanderbilt Commodores in particular.
It may be Thanksgiving on the calendar but it is one of the busiest weeks of the year with Vanderbilt Athletics. Here is a quick review:
- We are hosting the annual women’s basketball Thanksgiving Tournament Friday and Sunday. The Commodores will play at 5:00 p.m. Friday against Quinnipiac with the 7 o’clock second game pitting Princeton versus Southern Cal. The winners will play Sunday at 2:00 p.m. while the losers will face off Sunday at noon. Admission to these tournament games is free!
- Men’s basketball hosts Grambling Wednesday night at 7:00 and Appalachian State Saturday at 1:00 p.m. By the way, we have less than 50 season tickets remaining. Going…going…
- The football game with Wake Forest begins Saturday at 6:30 p.m., televised by Comcast.
There have been some raised eyebrows during the fall when on occasion, visitors to Vandyville might have noticed an official tent being frequented if not dominated by opposing fans. All of our Vandyville tents are sold on a season basis; Vanderbilt Athletics does not sell tents on a one-game basis. If there happens to be opposing colors at a tent site, rest assured they are there because the season-long renter of that space has made it possible, not Vanderbilt Athletics.
