Vanderbilt vs Presbyterian Quotes
November 12, 2010
Memorial Gymnasium
Vanderbilt Head Coach Kevin Stallings
Opening Comments:
“We had a great start in the first five minutes shooting the ball… Jeff [Taylor] shot the ball with a lot of confidence and attacked the rim. Brad [Tinsley’s] performance was maybe as good as we’ve ever had here. I gave him a game ball and that was the first time in 18 years I’ve given someone a game ball.”
On Vanderbilt Guard Brad Tinsley’s Triple Double:
“I didn’t know [that it was Vanderbilt’s first triple double] until I heard the announcement. I felt guilty that I had him out there, and I didn’t have him out there to shoot… I wanted to get him that last assist. He had 11 points at halftime and I told the staff that he was five assists and three rebounds away from a triple double.”
On Vanderbilt Forward Jeffrey Taylor:
“They’ve only been Division I for a couple of years, but [Presbyterian] didn’t have anyone athletically that could match up with Jeff… Jeff was phenomenal.”
On Vanderbilt Center Festus Ezeli:
“What I’m not seeing is the nervousness that has plagued him. He’s making plays, playing hard, and really doing a good job. The game slows down for him each week.”
On Vanderbilt’s Hot Start:
“I was a little surprised. Jeff [Taylor] and Brad [Tinsley] got us started. When the first couple of guys get you going, everyone else falls in. I thought our half-court offense was significantly better than earlier in the week… It was fun to watch them play and compete like that.”
Player QuotesBrad Tinsley
On his triple-double:
“Like I told my teammates in the locker room, none of this is possible without them or the coaching staff. A triple-double is by no means an individual thing and I couldn’t have done it with both these guys (Jeffery Taylor and Festus Ezeli) beside me and the coaching staff calling the right plays.”
On the game:
“This is just stats, all that matters is the win. You know Rod hit that big shot in the end but I just thought we played very well both offensively and deffensively. We shot the ball well and I thought our defense really suffocated them.”
On being the first Vanderbilt player ever to earn a triple-double:
“I was really surprised because there have been a lot of great players come through here. This is a great league and a lot of good players come through here so I was very surprised at that.”Jeffery Taylor
On only missing one shot:
“I just feel a lot more confident. I put in a lot of work during the summer. I worked a lot on my shot and coming off ball screens and things like that so overall I just feel a lot more confident about my game and just made shots.”
On his 3-pointers:
“I’ve been shooting it during practice and lately I didn’t shoot it that well so tonight it felt good to see them go in. I’ve been shooting in practice and not trying to force anything, just play within myself and know what I can do and it worked out.”
On Brad Tinsley’s return to point guard:
“He just has great court vision, great sense of knowing when to pass the ball and he puts people in good situations.”
