Vanderbilt assistant coach and former standout Commodore player Nicki Cutler has been named the head women’s golf coach at Princeton University and will begin her role with the Tigers immediately.
Cutler, who has been an assistant at Vanderbilt to Greg Allen for the last three seasons, was also a standout player for the Commodores from 1999-2003, where she was a two-time All-SEC selection and an honorable mention National Golf Coaches Association All-American in 2002.
“Vanderbilt has provided me with many wonderful experiences,” said Cutler. “As a student here, I was challenged to meet high standards both academically and athletically, but I was also afforded extraordinary guidance, education and support.I am grateful to Coach Allen, who introduced me to college coaching and generously shared with me his knowledge and experience.
“Vanderbilt will always hold a special place in my heart. I will take with me many valuable lessons, great friendships and wonderful memories. I wish Greg and the team all the very best in the future.”
The Commodores are coming off of their best NCAA Championship finish since 2007 after finishing seventh at the 2010 NCAA Championship in Wilmington, N.C., in May.
“Nicki is ready to be a head coach and I’m excited for her that Princeton is giving her that opportunity,” said Allen. “For me to have balance in my life as a head coach, husband and father of four, I need an assistant that is capable of handling all aspects of coaching and Nicki did that for me the past three years. I’m thankful for what she has helped this program accomplish and wish her the very best at Princeton.”
Cutler is Allen’s fourth assistant coach in his career to move on to a head coaching position.
