Hudson Johnson named to PING All-Region team

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Vanderbilt senior Hudson Johnson was named tothe Division I PING All-Southeast Region Team, announced Wednesday bythe Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

“This is a great way to cap off a senior year, being recognized as oneof the best golfers in the country,” VU Head Coach Tom Shaw said.”Congratulations to Hudson.”

Johnson led the Commodores this year with a 71.61 stroke average, goodfor fifth in the Southeastern Conference. The Longview, Texas nativenotched five Top-10 finishes in 11 team events, including at the 2010NCAA East Region Championship.

A second-team All-SEC honoree, Johnson graduated last month as a two-time individual champion after capturing medalist honors at the KauaiCollegiate Cup as a sophomore and claiming the HummingbirdIntercollegiate title as a junior. This season, he helped theCommodores score their third team championship in as many years at the2010 Samford Intercollegiate.

A total of 153 players across six regions — Northeast, East,Southeast, Midwest, Central and West — earned all-region honors thisseason.
