Joe Loftus was 6-for-14 with two doubles, a homer, triple and four runs scored against LSU in regular season and added another double in his first at bat in the second inning tonight. He finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored and is now 8-for-17 against the Tigers this season.

Mike Yastrzemski hit his second career homer in the second inning, a two-run shot to right, that tied the game at 3-3. It was his first homer since belting one against Ohio on March 12.

– After allowing just two runs in a complete game against LSU on May 8, Hill gave up three runs in the first inning tonight. He allowed five runs in 4.2 innings for second time in last three appearances (vs. Mississippi State 5/15).

Grayson Garvin made his second career relief appearance in the SEC tournament. He allowed two runs on one hit in a third of an inning against the Tigers in the championship game last year. This year he allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits in 2.1 innings with a strikeout

Will Clinard made his first career postseason appearance and threw two innings of two-hit scoreless relief. He struck out two batters.

Aaron Westlake’s streak of four straight games with a homer ended tonight with his 1-for-3 night.

Other Vanderbilt Notes

– LSU improves to 6-1 against Vanderbilt in tournament and 51-33 all-time in the series.

– Vanderbilt’s two-game win streak over LSU is over and the teams have now split four games this year.

– The Commodores are now 18-10 in SEC tourney under Tim Corbin.
