MBB: James Siakam signs National LOI

Head Coach Kevin Stallings announced Monday that 6’6 forward James Siakam has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Vanderbilt and play basketball for the Commodores beginning in the fall of 2010.

Siakam, a Cameroon native who attended Brehm Prep in Carbondale, Ill., averaged 18 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocks a game last season for the Bears. The 6’6 was also receiving interest from Virginia, Cincinnati, DePaul, Marquette, Illinois and Florida.

“We are very excited about adding James Siakam to our program.,” said Stallings. “James is an outstanding young man and student with tremendous potential on the court. His athleticism, toughness and work ethic are all things that will help James be a tremendous player here at Vanderbilt.”

Siakam joins 6’1 point guard Kyle Fuller, 6’10 post player Josh Henderson, and 6’9 forward Rod Odom in the class of 2010.
