Five Commodores named All-ALC

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Five Vanderbilt Commodores received All-American Lacrosse Conference honors, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Senior Sarah Downing, senior Alex Mundy, and sophomore Ally Carey were each named to the ALC First Team, while senior Carter Foote and sophomore Natalie Wills each received ALC Second Team honors.

Downing finished the regular season tied for the team lead with 36 goals along with 62 points, 31 ground balls, and 21 caused turnovers. Mundy totaled 22 ground balls, 12 draw controls, and 19 caused turnovers on the season. Carey led the Commodores with 44 ground balls and 36 caused turnovers, while scoring 34 goals and adding 22 assists. Foote notched 36 goals, 25 draw controls, and 12 ground balls. Wills, a sophomore goalkeeper from Maryland, totaled 23 ground balls of her own as she finished with 135 saves while only allowing 161 goals.

The Commodores will return to action on Friday, May 7, when they play the winner of the Johns Hopkins/Florida game in the second round of the ALC Conference Tournament. Game time is scheduled for 5:30pm in Columbus, Ohio.
