BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Vanderbilt senior Scott Lieberman was awarded for his outstanding work in the community on Wednesday when he was selected as Vanderbilt’s representative on the 2010 SEC Men’s Tennis Community Service Team.
A native of Riverwoods, Ill., Lieberman started the Advantage Love Foundation in honor of his late mother, Patti, who passed away in 2009 due to colon cancer. Advantage Love Foundation is a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to educating people about colon cancer as well as raising funds to find a cure for it.
The community service honor comes on the heels of Lieberman being selected as Mr. Commodore by fellow student-athletes at the Black and Gold Banquet on April 20. Mr. and Ms. Commodore are presented annually to the graduating seniors who best represent their sport, all student-athletes and the campus community.
Lieberman will graduate in May after majoring in engineering science and economics with a minor in engineering management. After graduation, Lieberman will begin his career working for Intuit, a software company based in California.
Lieberman has a career record of 13-16 and earlier this year he secured Vanderbilt’s 7-0 sweep against UT Chattanooga.
