Pitcher Taylor Hill
They’re going to swing. It may not necessarily be a good pitch, but they’re going to swing and you just have to do your best out there to get the win.

Last week, we played South Carolina and they’re pretty much the same kind of guys as Auburn. They’re all big hitters and love to swing, so last week was good preparation for this weekend. Not to say we weren’t ready last weekend, but it was certainly good practice for this weekend. This weekend, we needed a big hit and we got one. I hope we can keep rolling.

On starting on Sunday
I like Sunday starts. As long as we win, I don’t care what day I start. For me, it’s all about the team doing well and getting that win.

Head Coach Tim Corbin

On Aaron Westlake
It was nice to see Aaron get a hit like that. He’s been struggling a bit as of late and you can kind of see him trying to figure it out.

On Taylor Hill’s strong start
Taylor deserves better. To pick up four runs in two weekends and he has nothing to show for it. That’s some really good pitching and everything you can possibly do on a Sunday afternoon. This is a strong hitting team and he just did a great job and I’m proud of him.

He did very well and shortened their at-bats. He got the ball on the ground a few times and had some good defense behind him. His slider against their lefty was the best pitch of the day. I don’t know if it was a great game to watch for me, but if you were a fan, it was definitely a good game to watch.

On mixing up and changing the lineup
Gomez is the in the nine-hole anyway and if you have a guy hitting .466, it makes sense to move him up so you see him more often. He is comfortable out in the field and when he’s hitting. He’s really aggressive. He’s a good fastball hitter.

Moving Aaron down in the order was more about relaxing him. He’s really tough on himself. He works extra hard and he’s too good of a kid for me to ever get after him. If we get Curt, Gio, and Westy to come along, we’ll have a great offensive team.

On Brian Harris’ two-rbi single to tie the game
Harris’ hit was great. To foul off so many pitches, like 80, and then to hit the ball into the outfield like that…that was huge and it kept the game intact for a while. It was one of those days that the wind was popping up the balls everywhere.

On team’s performance first-half of SEC season
I’ll take 8-7 in the league, but it’s just a race to Birmingham. We’ll see if we can play better towards the end and grab 8, 9, or 10 more. We’re 8-7 and we’ve hit .270 as a team and I think we have a chance to be better than that.

We have Lipscomb and MTSU. We have five games on the road and we’ll just see how it ends up.
