2010 SEC Tournament Bracket | Final Regular Season Standings
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – With the ending of the Southeastern Conference women’s tennis regular season Saturday, SEC league officials have announced the seeding and times of the 2010 Women’s Tennis Tournament. Vanderbilt (12-8, 7-4 SEC) earned the No. 6 seed and will face 11th-seeded Mississippi State in the first round at 1 p.m. CT on Thursday. The 2010 SEC Tournament will be held April 22-25 in Athens, Ga.
The winner of the Vanderbilt vs. Mississippi State match will advance to face third-seeded Tennessee (14-7, 8-3 SEC) in the quarterfinals at 1 p.m. Friday. It marks the second straight season that the Commodores will meet the Lady Bulldogs (9-12, 1-10 SEC) in the first-round of the conference tournament. Last year, the fifth-seeded `Dores took down MSU, 4-0 in the first round of SECs before bowing out to Florida, 4-2 in the quarterfinals.
Vanderbilt earned their 21st consecutive win over Mississippi State back on March 7, when they swept all nine matches (three doubles, six singles) en route to a 7-0 win in Starkville.
The Commodores finished the regular season 7-4 in SEC play, tying South Carolina for fourth-place but USC was awarded the No. 5 seed over VU due to owning the head-to-head tiebreaker.
Florida earned the top-seed of the tournament after going a perfect 11-0 in conference play during the regular season.
