BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Vanderbilt’s loss at No. 8 Kentucky on Saturday, coupled with an Auburn win over Alabama dropped the 31st-ranked Commodores to a No. 7 seed in the 2010 SEC Tournament, which runs April 22-25 in Lexington, Ky.

The Commodores learned of their seeding after Auburn’s 4-3 win in Tuscaloosa on Saturday evening, and the league office released the schedule for the SEC Tournament shortly after the match had concluded.

As the No. 7 seed, the Commodores (13-9, 5-6 SEC) will open the tournament at 11 a.m. CT on Thursday against No. 10 seed Mississippi State (9-11, 2-8 SEC) in the first round. The winner of the match will face No. 2 seed Florida in the quarterfinals at 11 a.m. CT on Friday.

Vanderbilt earned its first SEC win of the season against Mississippi State, 5-2, on March 7 in Nashville. Vanderbilt held a 3-2 lead in that match before Alex DiValerio clinched the overall match with his win in the No. 6 position.

Tennessee earned the No. 1 seed after finishing 11-0 in SEC play.
