NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Sophomore Ally Carey picked up her second award of the week on Tuesday, when the American Lacrosse Conference named her the ALC Offensive Player of the Week for her play against Louisville and Penn State.

Carey was instrumental in the 20-13 win over Louisville, recording four goals, seven draw controls, three caused turnovers, and two assists in the win. In the win over Penn State, Carey was even better as she finished with five goals, nine draw controls, three ground balls, and two caused turnovers.

With the recognition, Carey becomes the first ALC player this season to earn Player of the Week honors in different weeks for her offensive and defensive play. Carey was named the ALC Defensive Player of the Week after her play in Vanderbilt’s win against UMBC.

Through eight games, Carey is the ALC leader for several statistical categories. She is currently first in caused turnovers (19), caused turnovers per game (2.38), ground balls (25), ground balls per game (3.13), and draw controls (31).

The ALC honor follows Carey’s selection as WomensLax.com’s Division I Player of the Week.

The No. 12 Commodores will return to action on Wednesday, March 24, when they travel to Notre Dame to take on the No. 11 Fighting Irish at 1:30pm CT. In last year’s matchup, Vanderbilt defeated the Irish 18-11 at the VU Lacrosse Complex.
