NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Sophomore Ally Carey has been named the Division I Player of the Week by WomensLax.com, the website announced on Monday. The honor follows Carey’s dominating performances in wins against Louisville and No. 12 Penn State.
Carey was instrumental in the 20-13 win over Louisville, recording four goals, seven draw controls, three caused turnovers, and two assists in the win. In the win over Penn State, Carey was even better as she finished with five goals, nine draw controls, three ground balls, and two caused turnovers.
The honor is the second Player of the Week award this season for Carey, who also received ALC Defensive Player of the Week honors for her play against UMBC.
For the season, the sophomore has totaled 33 draw controls, 25 ground balls, 19 caused turnovers, 16 goals, and ten assists.
The Commodores will return to action on Wednesday, March 24, when they travel to Notre Dame to take on the Fighting Irish at 1:30pm CT.
