TOURNAMENT NOTES
– The lead changed just one time in the game, there was also one tie.
VANDERBILT NOTES
– Vanderbilt is now 22-10 on the season, 42-25 all-time in the SEC Tournament , which is the second-best record in SEC Tournament record in both percentage and total wins.
– Senior guard Merideth Marsh scored 11, her 26th double-figure game, and ninth in a row.
– Junior forward Hannah Tuomi scored 12 points, the 18th double-figure game of her season and led Vandy in scoring for the fifth time this season.
– Tuomi also led the team in rebounds with five.
– Vanderbilt is 0-3 against Tennessee in the SEC Tournament under Melanie Balcomb
– This marks the first time Vanderbilt has lost a game played in the Arena at Gwinnett Center. The Commodores are now 6-1 all-time at the facility.
TENNESSEE NOTES
– Tennessee is now 29-2 on the season, 62-17 all-time in the SEC Tournament , and will attempt to secure the 19th 30-win season in school history with an SEC Tournament Championship on Sunday.
– UT is now 19-8 all-time in the SEC Tournament semifinals
– With the win, the Lady Volunteers earned a 3-game season sweep of the Commodores, after winning both regular-season meetings.
– Trailing 10-4 at the 14:40 mark of the first half, a three-pointer by junior guard Angie Bjorklund sparked a 25-7 run over the next 10:46 to give Tennessee a lead it would not relinquish.
– Sophomore forward Alyssia Brewer led the Lady Vols with 15 points. She was joined in doube-figures by Bjorklund with 12.
– Brewer also pulled down seven rebounds, which tied her with sophomore center Kelley Cain for the team lead in the game.
– Cain, Shekinna Stricklen and Glory Johnson all score nine points for UT.
– At the half, UT held a nine point lead, the difference being a 12-3 advantage in points off turnovers in the opening frame.
– The Lady Vols won despite shooting just 57.1% from the free throw line.
– Tennessee won the rebounding battle 42-27
