Starting Lineups
– Vanderbilt started senior Jermaine Beal, sophomore Jeffery Taylor and freshman John Jenkins at guard … sophomore Andre Walker started at forward and junior A.J. – After a basket by A.J. Ogilvy to extend VU’s lead to 10 with 19:49 to play, Vanderbilt was unable to build on its lead and the game remained never got closer than six points, 41-35 (17:29), through the first eight minutes of the half.
– A pair of three-pointers by USC’s Devan Downey were part of an 8-0 run at the time by South Carolina, which pulled USC within one of Vanderbilt, 57-56, with 8:20 to play … It was the closest the game had been since 5:52 to play in the first half when Vanderbilt led 24-23.

– With the loss, Head Coach Kevin Stallings is now 212-135 at Vanderbilt … He is second in school history in career wins and trails only Roy Skinner (278 wins) … With the team’s win against Manhattan on Dec. 30, Stallings moved into second place among all-time wins leaders at Vanderbilt, surpassing Bob Polk’s 197 wins.
– Despite the loss, senior Jermaine Beal concluded his Vanderbilt career at home as the school’s all-time winningest player with 90 career wins.
– Beal scored a team-best 21 points in his final home game as a Commodore … It was the ninth 20-point game of his career and second in a row at home.
– Beal scored the final nine points of regulation for Vanderbilt.
