Starting Lineups

– Kentucky opened the game by hitting its first two three-point attempts to jump out to an 8-4 lead with 16:47 to play.
– Kentucky would extend its lead to six, 12-6, with 14:50 to play.
– Trailing 16-10, Vanderbilt scored eight straight points to take an 18-16 lead in the game … It was Vanderbilt’s second lead of the game and first since leading 2-0.
– Vanderbilt began the game just 1-of-7 from three-point range, while Kentucky started 2-of-7 after hitting its first two attempts.
– With the game tied at 22 with 2:53 to play a free throw by John Wall led to five consecutive points by Kentucky, giving the Wildcats a 27-22 lead with 2:02 to play.
Jeffery Taylor hit three of four free-throw attempts down the stretch to pull Vanderbilt within, two, 27-25 at half.

– The first three minutes of the second half produced three ties.
Jermaine Beal misfired on two three-point attempts in the first four minutes of the half and was 0-of-5 from three following a miss with 16:33 to play.
– A basket by Jeffery Taylor gave Vanderbilt a 33-31 lead with 16:08 to play … It was Vanderbilt’s first lead since leading 20-18 with 5:55 to play in the first half.
– A free throw by A.J. Ogilvy with 15:01 to play gave VU a 34-31 lead, the three point lead was its largest of the game.
– With Vanderbilt leading by three, Kentucky scored five straight points to retake the lead, 36-34, with 12:38 to play.
– A foul by Festus Ezeli at the 12:50 mark of the half was his fourth of the game … Steve Tchiengang picked up his third foul with 12:57 to play, while A.J. Ogilvy got his third foul with 13:44 to play.

Individual Notes
– With the loss, Head Coach Kevin Stallings is now 209-134 at Vanderbilt … He is second in school history in career wins and trails only Roy Skinner (278 wins) … With the team’s win against Manhattan on Dec. 30, Stallings moved into second place among all-time wins leaders at Vanderbilt, surpassing Bob Polk’s 197 wins.
Jeffery Taylor scored 17 points to reach double figures in scoring for the 21st time this season and 42nd time in his career … He has now scored in double figures in four straight games … Vanderbilt is now 16-5 this season when Taylor scores in double figures.
– For the second game in a row Steve Tchiengang set a new career high in rebounds … After grabbing seven at Ole Miss, Tchiengang had a career-best 8 against Kentucky.
Brad Tinsley tied a career and season high with six rebounds.
– A.J Ogilvy scored nine points and now has 1,382 points, which remains 16th in school history … Ogilvy trails Kevin Anglin (1,389) for 15th in school history.
– Despite scoring nine points Ogilvy has still scored in double figures in 77 of 89 career games … Ogilvy has not scored in doubles figures in six games this season … When Ogilvy does not score double figures, Vanderbilt is 2-4 and has lost four straight games.
Jermaine Beal scored 6 points and now has 1,146 in his career, which ranks 30th in school history … Beal passed Babe Taylor (1,144) and now trails Brett Burrow (1,149) for 29th … Against Auburn on Jan. 23 Beal became the 40th player in school history to reach 1,000 points in his career …. It was the fourth time all season that Beal has failed to reach double figures … Beal had a streak of 13 games in a row of scoring in double figures.
– Beal went 0-for-5 from beyond the arc and had his streak of at least one three-pointer made in 18 straight games come to an end … The last time he didn’t hit a three was against DePaul on Dec. 5.
– Beal finished the game with two assists and ranks seventh in school history with 392 career assists … Drew Maddux (1994-98) is sixth in school history with 394 assists.
