NASHVILLE, Tenn. — 11 Vanderbilt baseball games will be televised this spring as the Southeastern Conference announced its 2010 television schedule.
The SEC, in its first year of a new 15-year contract with ESPN, will have 46 games televised, up from eight games in 2009. In addition, all games from the 2010 SEC Tournament will continue to be broadcast, with the championship game airing nationally on ESPN2.
“The Southeastern Conference has established the finest baseball tradition in the country,” said SEC associate commissioner Mark Whitworth. “Our student-athletes and coaches have performed at the highest level, by earning an unprecedented number of National Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances since 1990. Through the new agreement with ESPN, the SEC is extremely pleased to provide this dramatic increase in the live television coverage of SEC Baseball across multiple national and regional platforms.”
The television package is derived from broadcasts on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, FSN, SportSouth and CSS. In addition, ESPN360.com will also stream all broadcasts live online (except for games that appear on ESPNU).
Nine of the 11 Commodores televised games are part of the SEC package, while two televised games against Florida are part of the Gators TV package with SUN TV.
SEC schools maintain the rights to air additional games not included in the official SEC package with various television outlets, including official SEC TV partners.
“This is a great opportunity for our conference to showcase the quality of baseball we have throughout the league,” said Vanderbilt head coach Tim Corbin. “The added television coverage is good for not only Vanderbilt, but for college baseball in general.”
11 of VU’s 30 SEC games will be shown on TV regionally with seven of the contests eligible for Internet broadcast on ESPN360.com.
