Pregame Notes
– The Commodores and Crimson Tide are meeting for the 37th time overall.
– Vanderbilt leads the all-time series 25-11 and has won the last eight straight and 12 of the last 13.
– Vanderbilt started Lauren Lueders, Jence Rhoads, Elan Brown, Jessica Mooney, and Hannah Tuomi… This is the first time this season Vanderbilt has used this lineup.
Merideth Marsh has started every game since Nov. 28th, 2007, Vanderbilt’s win against No. 10/11 Duke. She had 83 consecutive starts for the Commodores.

Postgame Notes
– Vanderbilt moves to 15-6, 4-4 in SEC play. Alabama falls to 9-12, 1-7 in SEC play.
– In just 23 minutes of action, Merideth Marsh scored 14 points and was 12-for-12 from the charity stripe. She now has 1,134 points for her career, tied for 21st with Jillian Danker (1999-2002).
– With Merideth Marsh’s career-high 12 made free throws, it’s the first time since January 6, 1991 (Wendy Scholtens vs. Mississippi State) that someone has gone 12-for-12 from the free throw line.
Hannah Tuomi contributed 11 points, eight rebounds, and four assists for the Commodores. Her assist and rebound totals led the Commodores. This is the eighth time this season she has led the team in rebounding. This is the first time in her career she has led Vanderbilt in assists.
Jence Rhoads also scored 14 points, along with six boards and three assists.
Jessica Mooney contributed 10 points and seven rebounds.
– Vanderbilt is now 13-2 when leading at halftime.
– The Commodores outrebounded the Crimson Tide 41-30. VU is now 7-1 when outrebounding their opponent.

First Halfâ€â€ÂVanderbilt 37, Alabama 25
– Vanderbilt and Alabama traded baskets until Alabama took a six-point lead at the 15:21 mark of the first half.
Jessica Mooney scored the first two baskets for the Commodores, a layup and a jumper at the 19:19 and 18:08 marks, respectively.
Lauren Lueders hit back-to-back 3-pointers at the 14:39 and 14:10 marks of the first half, closing the Tide’s lead to two.
Jessica Mooney tied the game up at 14 for the Commodores with a layup at the 12:43 mark of the first half, capping off an 8-2 run for VU.
Jence Rhoads made her first basket of the game at the 10:48 mark, a layup to tie the game at 16 apiece. She scored Vanderbilt’s next basket, another layup at the 7:51 mark of the first half.
– With her layup at the 7:11 mark, Hannah Tuomi gave Vanderbilt their first lead of the game at 20-19.
Jence Rhoads had a sweet dish inside to Elan Brown at the 5:27 mark of the first half to push Vanderbilt’s lead to five.
– Vanderbilt’s strong defense held Alabama scoreless from the 8:01 mark of the first half to 3:47 left in the first half.
Hannah Tuomi had a great offensive rebound and layup with 53 seconds remaining in the half, putting Vanderbilt up by six.
Hannah Tuomi made the final basket of the half, a layup with three seconds until the buzzer.
Merideth Marsh went 6-for-6 from the charity stripe, contributing eight points in seven minutes.
Hannah Tuomi also contributed eight points at the half, along with three rebounds and three assists.
Jessica Mooney and Lauren Lueders each had six points at the half.
Jence Rhoads and Elan Brown each had four points and four assists.

– The Commodores outrebounded the Crimson Tide 19-14 in the opening half. VU is 6-1 when outrebounding their opponent.
– Vanderbilt made more 3-pointers than Alabama (2-0). The Commodores are 8-1 when Vanderbilt makes more 3-pointers.

Second Half
Jessica Mooney scored the first basket of the half for the Commodores, mirroring her beginning effort in the first half. She made a quick layup for the Commodores with 19:49 remaining in the second half.
Tiffany Clarke had a strong presence under the hoop for the Commodores, grabbing a rebound and making a quick layup at the 16:14 mark of the second half. Clarke was fouled on the play and made her free throw, completing the 3-point play.
– Vanderbilt was held scoreless from 16:14 to 11:45, allowing Alabama to go on a 7-0 run. A much-needed jumper by Elan Brown stopped Alabama’s run. She bookended that basket with a layup at the 11:16 mark of the second half, extending Vanderbilt’s lead to 11.
Jence Rhoads had a highly contested layup at the 10:20 mark of the second half, extending Vanderbilt’s lead, and matching its halftime lead, with 12. She made Vanderbilt’s next two baskets, a jumper at the 7:20 mark and a layup with 6:57 remaining in the half. With her three field goals in less than four minutes, Jence extended Vanderbilt’s lead to 14.
– With Hannah Tuomi’s jumper at the 5:33 mark as the shot clock was winding down, she became the third Commodore to reach double-figure scoring in the game (Merideth Marsh and Jence Rhoads).
– With Hannah Tuomi’s made free throw at the 4:53 mark of the second half, Vanderbilt gained its largest lead of the contest with 18 (58-40).
– With her two free throws at the 1:42 mark of the second half, Jessica Mooney became the fourth VU player to reach double figures in scoring.
Jence Rhoads completed the 3-point play, making a layup and getting fouled with 11 seconds remaining in the game. She made the free throw, making her 2-for-3 from the free throw line.
