Track opens indoor season this weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt track and field team opens the 2010 indoor season this weekend as they travel north on I-65 to Lexington, Ky., for the Kentucky Invitational. The Invitational will begin with select field events starting at 5 p.m. CT from the E.J. Nutter Field House on Friday. The meet will resume on Saturday morning beginning with field events at 10:30 a.m., with running events to follow at 12:30 p.m.

The Commodores return a wealth full of experience this year, led by two-time NCAA Regional qualifier Rita Jorgensen and the sprinting trio of Anna Carr, Taylor Jackson and Teegan Hill.

The ‘Dores look to continue to make strides in rebuilding the program this season and return all of its top competitors from a season ago. Vanderbilt returns a lot of experience and talent in the middle and long distances led by Kristabel Doebel-Hickok, Jordan White, Louise Hannallah and Jorgensen.

VU will have 16 student-athletes competing this weekend in Lexington.
