Starting Lineups
– Vanderbilt started freshman John Jenkins and sophomores Jeffery Taylor and Brad Tinsley at guard … sophomore Andre Walker started at forward and redshirt sophomore Festus Ezeli at center. It was the first time this season that Vanderbilt used this starting lineup. It marked the third different starting lineup combination this season.
– Taylor made his 40th consecutive start and has started every game of his career … Tinsley made the 37th start of his career and 20th in a row, starting every game since Jan. 31, 2009 at Auburn … The start by Walker was the 10th of his career … Before this season, his only start was against MTSU on Nov. 24, 2009 when he suffered a season-ending knee injury … Ezeli start was the second of the year and eighth of his career, his previous start this season came in the season opener against Lipscomb on Nov. 16 … With Beal not starting tonight, it snapped his 70-straight games of starting … Tonight’s game marked just the fourth time in Ogilvy’s career (72 career games) that he did not start.

First Half Notes – Vanderbilt 38, Western Kentucky 37
– Western Kentucky connected on six of their first seven shots to take a 14-9 lead at the first media timeout (15:35 in the first half).
– Festus Ezeli scored Vanderbilt’s first four points of the game.
– Vanderbilt had six different players score in the games first six and half a minutes. (Beal, Ezeli, Tinsley, Walker, Taylor and McClellan all scored during that time).
– After not starting the game A.J. Ogilvy checked into the game for the first time with 12:40 left in the first half.
– Trailing 21-15 at 12:40 mark, Vanderbilt went on a 14-7 run over the next 6:37 to take a 29-28 lead with 6:03 remaining in the first half. The one-point lead was Vanderbilt’s first lead of the half. Jeffery Taylor scored eight points during the run. The run was also sparked by a pair of Ezeli blocked shots that led to fast break points.
– With Vanderbilt holding a slim 29-28 lead, Western Kentucky retook the lead a minute later when AJ Slaughter made a free throw with 4:59 left in the half.
– With the game tied at 30-30 at the 4:38 mark in the opening half, Western Kentucky went on a 5-0 run to take a five-point (35-30 lead) with 3:19 remaining. The Commodores responded with a 6-0 run of their own over the next four minutes to take a 36-35 lead with 48 seconds remaining in the half. Ogilvy and Tinsley had three points a piece during the run.

Second Half Notes
– With VU holding a slim 38-37 lead at the half, Western Kentucky retook the lead at the 19:12 mark in the second half with a two-point basket by Jermey Evans. 11 seconds later VU retook the lead (40-39) when Taylor connected on a field goal with 19:01 left in the half.
– After two lead changes in the first minute of the second half and the game tied at 42-42 WKU went on a 8-3 to take a 48-43 lead with 15:55 left in the game.
– With Western Kentucky leading 54-48 with 12:51 to play, Vanderbilt went on a 7-2 run to get within one point (56-55 in favor of WKU) with 10:21 to play. With WKU holding a 56-55 lead, they went on 4-0 run to take a 60-55 lead over the Commodores with 9:10 remaining in the game.
– By the 15;33 mark of the second half there had already been five lead changes in the half.
– With WKU leading 70-63 with 56 seconds remaining in the game, Jermaine Beal scored the last six points of the game for the Commodores as he finished with 11 second half points and 12 for the game.
Individual Notes
– Head Coach Kevin Stallings now has 195 career wins and 131 losses at Vanderbilt, trailing Bob Polk’s 197 wins, which ranks second in school history … Roy Skinner’s 278 wins is more than any coach in Vanderbilt history.
– Jeffery Taylor finished with a season-high 21 points, reaching double figures in scoring for the 30th time in his career … Taylor’s 21 points marked the most points he has scored in a game since he scored a career-high 23 at South Carolina (1/28/09) last year.Taylor has scored in double figures in all but one game this season.
– Jeffery Taylor finished the game with a career-high nine made field goals. Taylor’s previous career high was eight made field goals, which he did four times last season with that last coming against DePaul on (12/5/09)
– A.J. Ogilvy scored 8 points off the bench and now has 1,140 for his career, which ranks 30th in school history … Ogilvy passed Mario Moore for 30th all-time (1,137 points) during the second half of tonight’s game. He now trails Babe Taylor (1,144 points) by only four points for 29th all-time … A.J. Ogilvy has scored in double figures in 62 of 70 career games.
– Ogilvy finished with one block and now has 113 in his career, which is third in school history … Ogilvy trails Julian Terrell (116 blocks) for second place in career blocks … During the season-opener against Lipscomb, Ogilvy became the second VU player to post 1,000 points and 100 blocks in a career … Will Perdue (1,281 points and 157 blocks) is the only other VU player to accomplish the feat … Ogilvy also became just the fourth player in VU history with 100 or more blocks in his career.
