PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The 18th-ranked Vanderbilt women’s basketball team travels to face Saint Joseph’s Tuesday for a 6 p.m. CT tip at Hagan Arena.

The Commodores moved 3-0 last Friday by defeating UC Riverside, 75-60, behind a game-high 14 points and seven assists from junior point guard Jence Rhoads.

Rhoads and classmate Hannah Tuomi pace the Commodores in scoring. Tuomi put up 20 points and nine rebounds in a win last week at Southern Illinois.

Saint Joseph’s (1-2) won captured its first win of the season at home on Saturday, defeating UMBC, 77-55. Reserve Brittany Ford leads the Hawks, averaging 14.0 points per game.

The Commodores and Hawks have met on only one previous occasion, with Saint Joseph’s defeating Vanderbilt in Philadelphia in the first round of the 1989 NCAA Tournament.

Tuesday’s game was billed as a return home for Vanderbilt freshman Stephanie Holzer, but the Newtown Square, Pa., native has yet to make her debut for the Commodores due to an ankle injury.

Following Tuesday’s contest, the Commodores will return home and play host to the 2009 Vanderbilt Thanksgiving Tournament at Memorial Gymnasium, Nov. 27-28. Vanderbilt will face Austin Peay on Friday, Nov. 27, at 2 p.m. CT, with a North Carolina State-Northwestern State matchup to follow. On Saturday, the consolation schedule is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start to be followed by the championship. Tickets for the Vanderbilt Thanksgiving Tournament are free.
