Commodores 8th After Rd. 2 at PGA WEST

LA QUINTA, Calif. — The Vanderbilt men’s golf team moved down to eight after a day two of The Prestige at PGA WEST at the TPC Stadium Course.

Junior Ryan Haselden stands at even-par through 36 holes to pace the Commodores, tied for 11th in the 80-man field. Haselden shot a two-over 74 in Monday’s second round as Vanderbilt went 19-over as a team.

Seniors Hudson Johnson (+2, T-17th) and Chris Rockwell (+6, T-38th) both carded four-over 76s on Monday. The Commodores were forced to count an 81 on the day, as sophomore Ben Klaus and Trey DelGreco both shot nine-over.

TCU holds a four-stroke lead over co-host Stanford, with UCLA, USC and Washington rounding out the top five. The Commodores are 18 strokes off the pace. The 13-team field includes five teams ranked in the most recent Golf World/Nike Golf Division I Coaches’ Poll.

Individually, TCU’s Daniel Jennevret (-8) leads the field by four strokes.

The final 18 holes are scheduled for Tuesday morning with a shotgun start sending the Commodores off on holes five through nine at 7:30 p.m. PT with Washington, San Diego and co-host UC Davis.

The Stadium Course at PGA WEST measures 7,026 yards and is playing to par 72 this week.
