Vanderbilt rising sophomore Marina Alex shot a second-round 69 on Tuesday and finished stroke play in a tie for second place with a two-round total of 139 at the U.S. Women’s Amateur at the Old Warson Golf Club in St. Louis, Mo. Alex advances to match play on Wednesday.
Alex finished with five birdies, three bogeys, and 10 pars in her way around the course on Tuesday. Alex finished in a tie for second with Jessica Korda, who also carded a two-round total of 139. Danielle Kang fired a 138 in her two rounds to claim medalist honors for the stroke play portion of the tournament.
Alex will tee off at 1:30 p.m. central time against Stephanie Sherlock of Canada to begin match play. Live scoring can be found here.
Incoming freshman Anna Leigh Keith also participated and finished stroke play with a 158 (83-75), which placed her in 119th place. Only the top 64 players in stroke play advances to match play at the tournament.
