Earnest, Peloquin earn academic honors

July 5, 2009

National Player of the Year Josie Earnest and Michelle Peloquin have earned first-team Academic All-NTCA, college bowling’s highest honor, while six other Vanderbilt Commodores earned honorable mention.

Earnest and Peloquin capped tremendous individual years as both had already made first-team All-America, the second time for both on the all-star first-team. The first, second and third team academic honor squads were determined by the All-America balloting of the National Ten Pin Coaches Association membership. To make the team, a student-athlete had to have achieved a minimum of 3.40 grade point for the 2008-09 year.

Earnest, a rising senior, is a Human and Organizational Development major while Peloquin, who graduated in May, was a Chemistry major.

The other six Commodores earning all-Academic acclaim are Ashley Belden, Brittany Garcia, Karen Grygiel, Amanda Halter, Tara Kane and Kaitlin Reynolds.
