NASHVILLE, Tenn. –Vanderbilt baseball, fresh off a run to the Southeastern Conference tournament title game, received an at-large bid to the NCAA’s Louisville Regional.
The Commodores, making their fourth straight NCAA tournament appearance and fifth in seven years under Vanderbilt head coach Tim Corbin, are the No. 3 seed and will take on No. 2 seed Middle Tennessee at 2 p.m. CT on Friday.
The No. 1 seed Louisville will face No. 4 seed Indiana at 6 p.m. CT.
Vanderbilt is 34-25 overall after going 3-1 at the SEC tournament in Hoover. The field has a regional flair with the NCAA trying to limit travel as much as possible. The Commodores have faced both Middle Tennessee and Louisville this season in midweek play.
Middle Tennessee (43-16) received an automatic bid after winning the Sun Belt Conference tournament championship over the weekend. The two teams split the regular season series with each team winning at its own park.
Louisville (44-15) enters the tournament as a No. 1 seed for the first time in school history after earning their second straight automatic bid with Sunday’s 11-3 win over Connecticut in the BIG EAST Championship title game in Clearwater, Fla. The Cardinals are making their third straight NCAA Regional appearance overall.
Indiana (32-25) is making its first NCAA Championship appearance since 1996 after winning the Big Ten Tournament title on Saturday night with a 13-2 win over Minnesota. The Hoosiers rolled through the Big Ten Tournament winning all four of its games in decisive fashion, outscoring its opponents 47-9 during the tournament.
The winner of Friday’s first round games will play on Saturday at 6 p.m. CT, while the two losing team’s will play an elimination game on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT
The winner of Saturday’s elimination game will play the losing team from Saturday night’s winner’s bracket game in an elimination game on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT, with the winner advancing to play the winner of Saturday night’s winner’s bracket game on Sunday at 6 p.m. CT. If needed, the two teams from Sunday night’s game will return for the final game of the Louisville Regional on Monday at 6 p.m. Gates at Jim Patterson Stadium will open at 1 p.m. CT each of the first three days of the Louisville Regional.
The Louisville Regional Ticket Order Form is available online at www.UofLSports.com and the Louisville Ticket Office will begin taking ticket orders by phone on Tuesday at 8 a.m. CT by calling (502) 852-5863.
All-tournament tickets, which include admission to the entire Louisville Regional, will cost $90 for reserved chairback seats, $64 for bleacher seats, $50 for berm seats and $38 for students with a valid ID. Children age 1 and under will be admitted free of charge.
Single game tickets for the Louisville Regional will go on sale on Friday at Jim Patterson Stadium. Single game tickets for the Louisville Regional are priced at $18 for reserved chairback seats, $10 for bleacher seats, $8 for general admission berm seats and $6 for students with a valid ID. All tickets purchased at Jim Patterson Stadium must be paid for with cash.
