NASHVILLE, Tenn. –Vanderbilt, fresh off a two-game sweep over former No. 1 Arkansas in Fayetteville, will open a five-game homestand on Tuesday against Middle Tennessee at 6 p.m.

The Dores will then take on Morehead State on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

VU is 21-13 overall and 7-7 in SEC play after the rain shortened two-game sweep of the Razorbacks. Junior left-hander Mike Minor was named Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week after throwing eight innings of four-hit baseball in the 9-0 Friday night win over Arkansas. Minor struck out 11 and his dominating performance handed the Razorbacks their first Friday night loss of the year (7-0 entering the weekend). The Commodores also broke into the national rankings for the first time this season, garnering the No. 28 spot in Collegiate Baseball’s poll.

Middle Tennessee is 24-8 overall and 13-5 in Sun Belt play after taking two of three from Florida International over the weekend. The Blue Raiders were receiving votes in the national polls this week after shutting out Vanderbilt, 8-0, last Tuesday in Murfreesboro.

Pitcher/Designated hitter Bryce Brentz leads the team in hitting as well as on the mound. He is hitting .441 with 15 homers and 37 RBI, while also posting a 3-2 record and a 3.98 ERA. As a team, MTSU is hitting .331 with 53 homers and 294 runs scored (9.2 per game). Right-hander Jud Stoltz (1-0, 7.50 ERA) will get the start for the Blue Raiders on Tuesday.

Sophomore left-hander Richie Goodenow (0-0, 3.38 ERA) will get the start for the Commodores. VU leads the all-time series with MTSU 81-40.

Morehead State is 12-19 overall and 5-6 in Ohio Valley Conference play after sweeping a doubleheader against Austin Peay at home last Saturday. Drew Lee leads the team with a .453 batting average with nine homers and 38 RBI. As a team, Morehead is batting .329 with 54 homers and 256 runs scored in 31 games (8.3 per game). The Eagles will send right-hander Trey Smith (0-3, 10.05 ERA) to the mound on Wednesday.

The Commodores lead the all-time series 4-2 and won the 9-4 the last time the teams met in 2004.
