NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt’s track and field team will return to the big oval this weekend as it travels south to Oxford, Miss., to compete in the Ole Miss Invitational Saturday. Competition will begin at the Ole Miss Track and Field Complex at 11:30 a.m. with the men’s hammer throw and the women’s javelin.
The Commodores will run against some of the best teams in the region this weekend as Alabama, Jackson State, Louisiana Tech, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Tulane and many others will join Vanderbilt in partaking in the meet.
Vanderbilt is looking forward to competing this weekend in Oxford and is hoping the weather will cooperate. The `Dores have already had one meet cancelled due to inclement weather and have been limited to practice time this spring due to large amounts of rainfall in the Nashville area.
Last weekend Vanderbilt’s 4×100 relay and sprint medley relay team competed at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas. VU’s 4×100 team of Taylor Jackson, Anna Carr, Teegan Hill and Josalyn White ran a 47.25, placing 28th out of 40 relay teams. Earlier in the day VU’s sprint medley realy team of Jackson, Hill, Carr and Jordan White posted Vanderbilt’s top finish of the weekend, placing ninth with a time of 4:03.88. Both of the relays were the first of the season for the Commodores.
