The Vanderbilt women’s golf team travels to Austin, Texas, to participate in the 36th Annual Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational, an event hosted by the University of Texas at the University of Texas Golf Club. Seventeen teams will vie for the tournament title, including five squads ranked in the top 30 in the nation.
One of those ranked teams is Vanderbilt, who is ranked 15th in the latest Golfweek Rankings. Participating for the Commodores this weekend are senior Jacqui Concolino, junior Brooke Goodwin, sophomore Megan Grehan, and freshmen Marina Alex and Andrea Messer. Grehan and Alex lead VU in stroke average heading into the tournament with 73.6 strokes per round.
Other teams participating this weekend are: Arizona State, Duke, Purdue, Arizona, Arkansas, Notre Dame, New Mexico, Texas A&M, UCF, Furman, South Carolina, Chattanooga, Texas, Tulsa, Florida State, and Oklahoma.
The teams will play 54 holes over three days (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) on the par 72, 6,324-yard University of Texas Golf Club. New Mexico won the 2008 tournament, and Stacy Lewis of Arkansas won medalist honors last year.
