NASHVILLE, Tenn. –Vanderbilt closes out a five-game homestand with a pair of midweek contests against South Alabama and Belmont at Hawkins Field.

The Commodores (11-6) will face South Alabama on Tuesday at 4 p.m. and will then take on Belmont on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The Belmont contest was originally scheduled to be played at Greer Stadium, but due to ongoing renovations it was switched to Hawkins Field. The April 1 contest against the Bruins will now be switched to Greer Stadium instead. (For more info regarding the ticket change, click here)

South Alabama is 7-10 on the year after getting swept by Western Kentucky in Sun Belt Conference action in Bowling Green over the weekend. The Jaguars have five starters returning from last year’s 32-26 club that finished seventh in the SBC with a 15-15 mark.

Designated hitter Adam Heisler leads the Jags with a .409 batting average through 11 starts, while catcher David Doss is the top power source with five homers and 20 RBI to go with a .375 batting average. USA is hitting .304 as a team with 12 homers and 102 runs scored on the year (6.0 per game). The Jaguars starter for Tuesday’s contest is yet to be determined. The pitching staff has a 6.10 ERA with 125 strikeouts and 61 walks in 148.0 innings pitched.

Belmont is 10-7 overall and 5-1 in Atlantic Sun action after sweeping East Tennessee State at Shelby Park over the weekend. The Bruins return seven position starters from last year’s 25-33 team that finished seventh in the conference with a 16-17 ledger.

BU second baseman Daniel Wagner leads the team with a .403 batting average to go with five homers and 23 RBI. First baseman Derek Wiley is the top power source with seven homers and 21 RBI and is third on the team with a .373 batting average. BU is hitting .297 with 21 homers and 123 runs scored (7.2 per game). Wednesday’s starter against Vanderbilt is still to be determined. The team sports a 4.81 ERA with 88 strikeouts and 62 walks in 144.0 innings pitched.

Vanderbilt is coming off a series loss to Ole Miss over the weekend to drop to 1-2 in league play. They will wrap up a stretch of 14 of 15 games at Hawkins Field and are 9-3 thus far at home.

Sophomore southpaw Sean Bierman (1-1, 5.40 ERA) will get the start against the Jaguars on Tuesday and freshman right-hander Navery Moore (0-0, 0.00) will make his first collegiate start against the Bruins on Wednesday.

South Alabama leads the all-time series against VU 5-3. The teams last met in the 1983 season with Vanderbilt coming away with a 16-9 victory.

VU leads the Belmont series 42-9 and have won the last six meetings dating back to the 2003 season. Last season the Commodores won both games of the home and home series, 7-3 and 10-7.
