NASHVILLE, Tenn. – On the heels of three straight losses, Vanderbilt’s men’s tennis team will look to halt its losing streak on Tuesday when the Commodores travel to Austin, Texas to face No. 6 Texas at 5 p.m. at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
Vanderbilt is ranked 34th and is 4-5 on the season, while Texas is 10-2 on the season with losses to No. 4 USC (4-1) and No. 5 Stanford (4-3).
Tuesday’s match marks the third of five consecutive road matches for the Commodores. Vanderbilt will conclude its road trip with trips to No. 43 South Carolina and No. 12 Florida this upcoming weekend.
By facing the sixth-ranked Longhorns, Vanderbilt will have faced ranked opponents in eight of its first 10 matches. Of those ranked opponents, all are currently ranked in the top 40.
Texas has four players ranked in singles play, led by No. 30 Dimitar Kutrovsky. Also ranked are No. 45 Ed Corrie, No. 76 Olivier Sajous and No. 99 Kellen Damico.
The Longhorns also have three doubles teams that are ranked: No. 16 Dimitar Kutrovsky and Josh Zavala, No. 55 Kellen Damico and Ed Corrie and No. 60 Miguel Reyes Varela and Olivier Sajous.
