Vanderbilt hosts No. 38 Louisville Sunday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Winners of three matches in a row, Vanderbilt’s 28th-ranked men’s tennis team will look to continue its winning ways on Sunday when it faces No. 38 Louisville at 12 p.m. at the Currey Tennis Center.

When Vanderbilt (4-2) faces Louisville on Sunday, it will be facing its fifth ranked opponent in seven matches. Vanderbilt is 2-2 against ranked foes this season with wins over No. 34 N.C. State and No. 29 Boise State. The Cardinals are 9-1 this season with their lone loss being a 4-3 defeat at Tennessee on Feb. 1.

Individual rankings were released on Thursday for the first time since Jan. 6, and the Commodores were represented in singles and doubles for the first time this spring. Sophomore Bryant Salcedo earned the first ranking of his young career, checking in at No. 103. Salcedo is 12-8 overall this year, but 4-2 in dual play.

In doubles, Vanderbilt’s sophomore duo of Adam Baker and Alex Zotov moved up seven spots to No. 25 in the latest rankings. Baker and Zotov are 4-1 this spring and 12-5 overall.

Louisville freshman Austen Childs is ranked No. 46 in singles. In doubles, the Cardinals have two teams that are ranked. Austen and Simon Childs are ranked No. 6, while Robert Rotaru and Alejandro Calligari are ranked No. 33.

Both matches will be held at the Currey Tennis Center and are free to attend.
