ISU Classic Heat Sheets | Meet Schedule
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt’s track and field squad will head north to the heartland this weekend to compete in one the nation’s premiere track and field meets at the ISU Classic in Ames, Iowa. VU will be one of 80 teams from around the country competing this weekend.
The Commodores are coming off their best performance of the 2009 season at last weekend’s Rod McCravey Invitational in Lexington, Ky. The `Dores were led by freshman sprint standout Teegan Hill’s season-high performance in the 400-meter dash. Hill took first-place in her respected heat, crossing the tape at the 56.14 mark. The Lancaster, Texas native’s 400 time ranks third in school history.
Fellow freshman Jordan White also entered the Vanderbilt record books last weekend, posting a personal-best 2:13.46 in the 800-meter run. White’s third-place time (2:13.46) time ranks 10th in school history.
Distance standout Rita Jorgensen joined her fellow teammates with a season-high 4:53.50 effort in the mile, finishing third out of 26 runners. Three events later, Jorgensen kept pace with White in the 800 open, crossing the finish line at the 2:15.07 mark.
Kristabel Doebel-Hickok also posted a strong performance last weekend, with a personal-best 10:02.44 in he 3000-meter run. Doebel-Hickok’s time gave the sophomore another top-10 finish. Adrienne DiRaddo finished one spot back of Doebel-Hickok in the 3000 with a 10:05.38, placing seventh.
