NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt swimming and diving team has been honored by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for its efforts in the classroom once again, as it was honored as a Division I Academic All-American Team for the fall 2008 semester.
The Commodores team grade point average for the fall semester was 3.46, ranking eighth nationally among Division I women’s swimming programs. Vanderbilt was the only school in the Southeastern Conference that was in the top 10.
“Once again, I am extremely proud of our team’s academic performance,” head coach Jeremy Organ said. “This academic honor is a tribute to all of the hard work that they put in the classroom and in the pool.”
The Commodores will return to the waters Feb. 18-21 at the SEC Swimming and Diving Championships. This year’s conference championships will be hosted in Auburn, Ala.
