Curran fourth at Jones Cup

Feb. 9, 2009

SEA ISLAND, Ga. — Vanderbilt senior Jon Curran finished fourth at the Jones Cup Invitational this weekend at the Ocean Forest Golf Club.

The prestigious 90-player field featured many of the top amateur golfers from the United States and abroad. Curran turned in a two-under 70 on Sunday — the second lowest score of the day — to finish at four-over (220) for the 54-hole event. The Hopkinton, Mass., native was just three strokes back of Morgan Hoffmann and Kyle Stanley.

The semi-annual Jones Cup was first contested in 2001, as a prelude to the 38th Walker Cup Match. This year marks the fifth edition of the event, which includes VU graduate Luke List as one of its past champions (2007).
