Bricks are no longer available for purchase.
Vanderbilt fans can no longer purchase personalized bricks to honor family members or special memories to be displayed as the centerpiece for two beautiful news walkways just outside Vanderbilt Stadium’s main southern gates.
The “Pave the Way” program offered Vanderbilt alumni and friends a fun opportunity to permanently link their own names, or those of family, friends, classmates, favorite athletes or even their favorite dates in Commodore history with these attractive new settings.
“As we continue to enhance Vanderbilt Stadium, we believe this is an ideal way for fans of all ages and walks of life to get their own piece of history,” says Vanderbilt Vice Chancellor David Williams. “The personalized bricks give every fan the chance to immortalize special people in their lives in a high profile location. Our early response has been enthusiastic.”
Vanderbilt completed Phase One last year of its comprehensive plan to renovate Vanderbilt Stadium, a step that led some to dub the venerable facility “The Brick House.” The next step in updating includes a complete reconstruction of what will become the main entry on the southwest corner of the stadium and also the entry near Hawkins Field on the southeast side.
The personalized brick walkways will be prominently displayed leading up to these entries so that they are accessible year-round.
Bricks are no longer available for purchase.
Bricks were available at the introductory price of $200 through June 1, 2009 and after that, they will be sold for $250. The price was 100 percent tax-deductible and all funds were used for Vanderbilt Athletics facilities improvements.
There was space for just 5,000 bricks. Brick purchases did not count toward National Commodore Club or Vanderbilt Fund donations.
