Women’s Tennis hosts MTSU Thursday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The 15th ranked Vanderbilt women’s tennis team will play hosts to Middle Tennessee State at 2:30 p.m. at the Currey Tennis Center Thursday. The Commodores (1-1) are coming off a weekend split at last weekend’s ITA Kick-Off Weekend.

VU entered last weekend as the No. 1 seed and started off the weekend on a strong note by sweeping No. 33 Wake Forest 6-0, advancing to the winner’s round the next day. In the match against the Demon Deacons, the `Dores took the doubles point as the Commodore duo’s of Jackie Wu and Chelsea Preeg and Keilly Ulery and Heather Steinbauer defeated their opponents by the score of 8-3.

Vanderbilt followed up the doubles performance with 5-0 mark in singles as Catherine Newman, Wu, Keilly Ulery, Preeg, and Courtney Ulery all picked singles victories.

The `Dores closed out the weekend falling to a strong and veteran Fresno State team, 4-0. Fresno State came into the match ranked as No. 15 nationally.

MTSU comes into today’s match with an undefeated dual record of 2-0. The Blue Raiders two wins came against Chattanooga (4-3) and Tennessee Tech (5-2).
