– Vanderbilt started junior Jermaine Beal, sophomore and Darshawn McClellan, and freshmen Jeffery Taylor, Brad Tinsley and Festus Ezeli. It was the fourth time the Commodores have used the lineup (3-1 record).
– Beal leads the team with 50 career starts, including 45 straight. Taylor made his 15th start of his career while Tinsley made his 13th consecutive start and 13th of his career.- A.J. Ogilvy missed the second game of the season with a foot injury. Ogilvy’s status is listed as day-to-day.

– Vanderbilt won the opening tip.
– Vanderbilt scored the games first points with Darshawn McClellan’s three pointer at the 19:13 mark.
– With McClellan’s three-pointer at the 19:13 mark in the first half, Vanderbilt extended its streak of consecutive games (713) with a three-pointer, dating back to when the three-point line was established in the 1986-87 season. The Commodores streak ranks second only to UNLV (721) for the longest streak in Division I basketball. Vanderbilt, UNLV and Princeton (610) are the only three schools in college basketball to accomplish this feat.
– With the game tied 8-8 at the 15:25 mark in the first half, Vanderbilt went on an 8-0 run to take a 16-8 advantage with 13:09 remaining in the half. The run was sparked by a Brad Tinsley and Jeff Taylor three-pointer.
– Vanderbilt pulled down 17 rebounds during the first half while Kentucky had 18

Second half notes:
– Vanderbilt’s Jamie Graham saw his first action of the 2008-09 season as he checked in with 11:19 remaining in the second half.
– Trailing 62-43 with 5:53 remaining in the second half, Vanderbilt went on a 15-2 run to cut the Kentucky lead to six (64-58) with 1:28 remaining. Beal was responsible for seven of Vanderbilt’s 15 points during the run.

– With the loss Vanderbilt drops to (11-4, 0-1 SEC) while Kentucky improves to (12-4, 1-0 SEC)
– The 70-60 loss to Kentucky snaps Vanderbilt’s six-game winning streak
– Kentucky now leads the all-time series with Vanderbilt 130-41. The Wildcats are 76-14 against the Commodores in games played in Lexington. Vanderbilt has won two of the last four meetings between the two schools at Rupp Arena.

Individual Notes:
– Jeffery Taylor tallied his second double-double (15 points and 11 rebounds) of his young career. Taylor’s previous double-double performance came against MTSU (13 pts, 11 reb.) back on Nov. 24.
– Taylor’s 11 rebounds ties a career high
– Beal and Taylor went a combined 13-13 from the free throw line.
– Beal’s 18-point effort is the second-most points he has scored this season, (20 vs. South Florida)
